Food Booth, Menu, and Application Information

Gurnee Days Corporation is pleased to provide opportunities to local restaurants and other food and refreshment providers at the annual Gurnee Days festival.  We strive to offer a variety of food selections that meet the needs of the diverse amount of visitors that attend the event each year.  Each year we anticipate about 20,000 hungry visitors!

Sunday, August 12, 11:00a to 5:00p  

No vehicle of any kind will be allowed inside the food vendor court 5:30p – 10:00p on Friday, 10:30a – 11:00p on Saturday, and 10:30a - 5:00p on Sunday.  


Booth Information and Menu Restrictions

1.  Booth space is approximately 12’ x 14’ and is located on a blacktop surface. 

2.  In an effort to execute the safest event, it is mandatory that all food vendors rent a tent through the Corporation.  Tent rental is included in your fee.

3.  Tents are 10' x 10' square with 12 inch counters on the front and sides, open in the back: 7' ground to canopy height on side and 12' in the center; ground to counter is 42". Banners and signs must be hung from the piping and secured by zip ties (cannot hang from the tent material).  See photo below.

4.  The amusement company contract prohibits food vendors from selling the following items (unless prior permission has been granted):  Funnel cakes, Popcorn, Cotton candy, Corn dogs, Nachos, and Snow cones.

5.  The Gurnee Days Corporation reserves the right to choose food vendors based on menu items and best fit for the festival. 

6.  The Gurnee Days Corporation reserves the right to limit duplication of some food items.

7.  Vendors must bring their own equipment/supplies needed to operate their booth including but not limited to: tables, chairs, lights, signage, ice and fire extinguisher. 

8.  Gurnee Park District will provide trash receptacles and trash removal during the event.

9.  Food is sold from each vendor’s individual booth (no food tickets are sold) and vendors are responsible for having adequate change on hand.

10.  Food vendors are permitted a maximum of 40 total amps of electricity. Additional generators are not permitted.  Please note the amperage of your devices before setup so the electrical limitations are not exceeded.  Gurnee Days Corporation/Gurnee Park District assume no responsibility to damage to equipment caused by misuse or overuse of electricity.

11.  Booth equipment may remain in the park overnight on Friday and Saturday.  As a courtesy security monitors will be on duty from 10:30p to 9:00a the following morning.  Please use your own discretion; the Gurnee Days Corporation/Gurnee Park District is not responsible for lost or stolen items. 

12.  Vendors are responsible for cleanup around your booth area.

13.  Previous participant booth location requests are accepted, but cannot be guaranteed.


Health Permit and Insurance Information

It is the vendor’s responsibility to obtain the proper health permits from the Lake County Health Department.  The applications can be obtained from the Health Department website at http://www.lakecountyil.gov/health

All food vendors must provide proof of insurance naming the Gurnee Days Corporation and the Gurnee Park District as additionally insured with comprehensive General Liability Insurance including contractual liability coverage, with minimum limits of not less than one million dollars ($1,000,000) per occurrence, and two million dollars ($2,000,000) annual aggregate. Insurance certificates must be received by July 15, 2018, or vendor forfeits participation in the festival.

Food Vendor Application

In an effort to execute the safest event possible, it is required that all food vendors rent a tent through the Corporation which is included in your vendor fee.  Vendors will not be permitted to bring their own tent. 

Booth spaces are 10’ x 10’ with 40 amps of electricity available per booth. Vendors are responsible for bringing tables, chairs, signage, lights, ice and any other equipment needed for the booth.

Food Vendor Applications, regardless of the date received, will be reviewed at the May and June Gurnee Days Corporation meetings. You will be notified shortly after these meetings if your application was approved or denied. A letter with final instructions and a map indicating your booth location will be sent by email in early August. All applications will be reviewed at the monthly meetings and communication regarding your status will be sent shortly after each meeting.

Please note that vendors may sell canned or bottled pop and water but must do so at a uniform price determined by the Gurnee Days Corporation.  These prices will be communicated in the final instructional packet for approved vendors.

Fees and Payment Procedure

To receive the early-bird rate, applications must be submitted on or before May 15, 2018.  No early-bird rates will be granted after that date.  No refunds will be made after July 20, 2018; all requests for refunds must be in writing.

Upon approval of your food booth application you will receive confirmation of this via email from the Food Booth Chairperson.  The confirmation will also include a link to the secure payment site.  Payments will be accepted exclusively through this secure payment site via credit card or ACH.  Failure to make the appropriate payment by the date indicated on your confirmation email will disqualify you from participation in this activity.


Vendor Release Waiver and Indemnification Agreement

This Release, Waiver, and Indemnification Agreement is hereby given by e listed applicant (“Vendor”), in favor of Gurnee Days Corporation, the Gurnee Park District and all other sponsors, donors, volunteers, organizers, and fundraisers. (“Released Parties”) regarding all events, times and places associated with Gurnee Days (hereinafter the “Event”);

RECITALS

A. Vendor is defined as an entity or person that sells or exhibits at the EVENT.

B. The Vendor recognizes the potential for risk of harm to persons and property of the Released Parties.

C. Vendor desires that the Released Parties not be at risk for activities of the Vendor at the EVENT, including the activities of Vendor and Vendor’s employees/volunteers.

NOW THEREFORE, for good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, Vendor covenants as follows:

1. Vendor hereby releases Released Parties and forever waives Vendor’s claims against Released Parties for all claims, causes action, damages, demands, penalties, and costs, including attorney fees that arise in relation to the EVENT.

2. Vendor acknowledges that this Release applies to all claims or causes of action which currently exist or which have existed or which may arise or are discovered in the future in relation to Vendor’s activities at the EVENT.

3. Vendor intends this to be a complete and total release of all claims, whether known or unknown, fixed or contingent, or whether the facts hereafter prove to be other than or different than the facts known by the Vendor or believed by the Vendor, and this Release and Waiver shall be construed as broadly as the law allows to accomplish this stated intention.

4. Vendor represents and agrees that no legal action of any kind will be taken against Released Parties in relation to the EVENT. This waiver of legal action includes but is not limited to destruction of Vendor’s property, negligent or willful acts by any individual against Vendor which includes but is not limited to, fire and rioting.

5. Vendor shall indemnify and hold Released Parties harmless for all claims, demands, losses, costs, obligations, and liabilities Vendors may incur or suffer in direct or indirect relation to Released Parties acts or omissions at the EVENT. Some risk of injuries that may arise from Vendor’s direct or indirect actions are but are not limited to: food allergies, fire, injury from strenuous activities, injury from participating in a game or choking on food.

6. Vendor shall also indemnify and hold Released Parties harmless from all claims, demands, losses costs, obligations and liabilities that the Vendor may incur or suffer as a result on Released Parties breach of any agreement, covenant or warranty in this agreement. Vendor shall further indemnify and hold Released Parties harmless from all liabilities, claims, and causes of actions arising from the operation of the EVENT. The indemnity obligations of this paragraph shall include indemnity for reasonable attorney fees and court costs incurred. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois and shall be binding upon Vendor’s heirs, successors, agents or assigns and shall be for the benefit of (i) Released Parties, their employees, officers, agents, affiliate, agents and assigns and (ii) all Gurnee Park District employees, volunteers, donors, sponsors, organizers and fundraisers.

Acknowledgement
I agree to all agreement terms, rules as outlined in the application letter, to pay the appropriate fee listed, and understand that all applications are subject to Gurnee Days Corporation approval. I also understand that the Corporation reserves the right to adjust menu items to avoid duplication and will discuss this with applicant prior to granting approval.
